V. We interviewed individuals to see what their response would be to my plan. Their responses are as follows. Mrs. Del Rio agrees on raising the minimum wage to $9.25 an hour. Her reasons are everything is starting to be so expensive in this economy. The cost of living has gone up and is still rising. She thinks this will be a great idea for this economy to go up and help out those who can bearly survive. Mrs. Vondrak argues that if we raise the minimum wage, it will make it more difficult for small businesses to make a profit. Raising the minimum wage will affect the cycle. Cost of living increases, inflation increases and we have to keep up with all the rising costs. So it won't really matter, because everything just keeps rising if the minimum wage increases.Their responses were satisfactory and both individuals support this proposal. Both people agree that the federal minimum wage is not enough to keep up with the current cost of living, and they support a raise in the minimum federal wage. According to Jaime Dubon Sr, the minimum wage should be raised to at least $10.00 an hour. Mr. Dubon is the Hispanic pastor at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, and he works with many people who are earning the Illinois minimum wage which is $8.25 an hour. However, Mr. Dubon claims that many of those people have two or three different jobs to completely support the needs of their families. Marisol Fuentes said that the minimum wage is just not sufficient because the prices of basic needs such as food are increasing while the minimum wage is kept the same. Therefore, she believes that the minimum should be raised to at least $9.00 an hour. "The prices of goods may go up if the minimum wage is increased, but those prices will be increased anyways, so the minimum wage should be raised to have a certain amount of balance," Mrs. Fuentes said.

VI. Our answers, based on our research, to their objections and concerns are that raising the federal wage to $9.25 will help the unskilled workers and the economy. Some people object that prices of goods will go up but I believe they they wont rise that much. Increasing the minimum wage will help our society go up. Many paople are going bankrupt and losing everything they got because of their poor income they get. I found very good comments and observations during the interviews. I found worrying the fact that many people have to have two or three jobs to support their families. That means that these people have very little time to rest or have time for their families. It must be very stressful to have two or more jobs; I wonder how much time these people have to sleep, to relax, or to just watch TV. Families should have time to share and enjoy together, but I don't think these people have the time for some family fun when they need to work more than 40 hours a week by having to jobs. Isn't family the base of society? Mrs. Fuentes said something very interesting, the cost of living is constantly increasing, but the minimum way is not. Many people struggle just to pay their basic needs and bills; this is a reason why our rates of poverty are going up. The increase of the federal minimum wage will not end poverty, but it will certainly help to improve the economy of our country which is very important for the well-being of citizens.
